Turning IT Visions Into Reality With The SFPD

How DELTA Computer Solutions is solving complex IT and Systems Engineering challenges for the San Francisco PD with innovative tech solutions and people power
The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) was aiming to improve public accountability regarding Police interactions with civilians to enhance transparency and trust while identifying opportunities to improve officer conduct. It was also tackling the challenged of better managing payroll clearance rates. SFPD was running legacy applications unsupported by the vendor due to being heavily customised. It needed a strategy to modernise its systems to upgrade performance, security, and scalability. Furthermore, SFPD was also facing the challenge of high software costs, budget constraints, downtime and Business Continuity Risks, data security, NIBRS and DOJ compliance concerns, while faced with choosing the right modernisation approach for its technology eco-system.
Creating solutions with DELTA
DELTA, a trusted partner, was already on the ground as custodian of SFPD’s ServiceDesk using the ServiceNow ticketing tool. Having completed SFPD’s Android smartphone standardisation rollout, it shadowed the Axon Body Camera implementers. Soon it garnered enough knowledge to take over the rest of the installations and fully support the project. Paramount in that process has been to support the goals and objectives of SFPD in serving the public.
Delivering benefits for the Police Department and the Public
The most important benefit DELTA was able to deliver that helped SFPD go the extra mile for its teams and the public was earning their trust. DELTA always delivers as promised, on time, and giving the government the best value from its investment. DELTA offers a broad knowledge base, gained from being a trusted partner of NASA’s Center of Excellence, where it delivers software engineering solutions for Aviation Safety Systems. It provides SFPD the added benefit of the continuous application of DELTA’s cutting edge tech knowledge. This quality has enabled DELTA to expand its offerings with SFPD. These include eCitation development and enhancements for NIBRS compliance, legacy on-premise PeopleSoft HRMS modernisation to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure migration, and the development of a sleek tool for the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) automating laborious manual processes to imp improve accuracy and efficiency.
A progressive partnership
We see our relationship with SFPD evolving into more than just a consulting partnership. We are also a provider of scalable software solutions via our innovative spin-off startup, Methodus. The flagship product of Methodus is focused on records management and the data interchange from evidence and cases. This tackles many of the challenges arising from incongruence between evidence management systems, differing cloud architectures, unsupported legacy applications, and the highly variable sources of data across different organisations. Our product includes a module for low-cost body-worn-camera technology, and digital autonomous agents for automating repetitive work. Ultimately, the Methodus objective is to multiply the productivity of public safety agencies so that civil servants can be even more effective than they are now.
